Christine's 8-year-old son, Ritchie has been accepted into a posh private school where Christine encounters two snooty class moms, Marly and Lindsay, who can't seem to grasp the concept that Christine actually works. Her 20-something slacker brother, Matthew, lives with her, but in a pinch, also serves as Ritchie's babysitter.
On the first day at Ritchie's new school, Christine is mortified to discover that her ex-husband, Richard, with whom she gets along even better than when they were married, is dating a young, nice, impossible-to-hate woman also named Christine… the "new" Christine.
Ritchie fait sa rentrée dans une nouvelle école privée. Pour faire bonne figure dans ce cadre bon chic bon genre, Christine et Richard jouent les parents modèles. Alors qu'il s'est éclipsé précipitamment, elle fait la connaissance de deux mamans, femmes au foyer bourgeoises et un peu allumées. Elles viennent de croiser Richard avec sa nouvelle petite amie. Cette dernière s'appelle également Christine et la désormais « vieille » Christine, qui ignorait que son ex-mari avait une relation, a du mal à cacher son agacement, surtout quand elle tombe sur le couple en train de s'embrasser sur le parking de l'école...

Accompagnandolo a scuola insieme all’ex marito, Christine fa la conoscenza di Marly e Lindsey, due madri ricche e snob, che la informeranno più tardi della relazione dell’ex con una donna più giovane, anch’essa di nome Christine. E Christine non prenderà certo bene la notizia.
