It’s day one at Sunnydale High for those of you entering the Buffy universe with Ash, but for Alaina these halls are full of nostalgia! And all in the name of cheerleading? Get ready for some serious school spirit, multiple plates full of brownies and a bit of a twist ending. Ready? Ok!
Who knew that Buffy would be fighting more than vampires this season? Ash sure didn’t but we are certainly here for it. This episode starts with a lesson about one of the most heavy metal animals in the world, a female Praying Mantis. Did you know they eat their partners’ heads off? Buffy isn’t very interested at first but it turns out she’ll need that lesson later on in the episode to defeat one of the nastiest beasts she’s slayed thus far. Honorable mention goes out to Robbie Rotten (you had to be there).
Ugh. The Owen of it all. Buffy meets a new potential love interest named Owen and she is absolutely dying to go out on a real teenage date. Unfortunately, everything is working against her. The Anointed One is coming soon and if the prophecies Giles has read are right, this means big danger for Buffy and the rest of the human race. Can Buffy defeat the Anointed One, avoid being killed, put a stop to the potential apocalypse AND finally experience one normalcy of teenagehood? Looks like you’re about to find out!

This week Xander and some wanna-be Gap models get possessed by a pack of hyenas and cause chaos throughout the school. Please prepare yourself to lose someone very near and dear. We finally made it to the episode that Ash has been patiently waiting for… ANGEL! This one was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. We have a first kiss, some jealousy and even a teeny tiny bit of heartbreak. This episode is filled with tons of new discoveries, but most importantly we learn that Angel…is a vampire (which isn’t exactly shocking if you’ve heard literally anything about the show in the past 25 years). Go grab your kleenex and buckle yourself in because this one may make you cry.
We all know the internet is a spooky place…but have you ever been Catfished by a demon living in your computer? In this episode we meet Malik, a cult-leading-demon, living in the 1400s, who made his followers do crazy things by promising them love and devotion in return. How rude. Flash forward to present day when Buffy is roaming the library and finds a mysterious book tucked away in a box. Turns out she should have left that book alone, because it brings all sorts of chaos to Sunnydale. What was written in the book you might ask? Well, get ready to be spooked…and to never trust anyone you meet online, ever again.
If you’re not afraid of puppets already, you might be after this one! It all begins when Mr. Snyder, Sunnydale High’s new principal (RIP Principal Flutie) decides to have a talent show to boost school spirit. During rehearsal, a dead body is found…because of course a talent show in Sunnydale involves a murder. BUT this murder feels different – not your garden variety vampire or demon killing that Buffy and the gang are used to. Could an actual human have done this? Or was it the creepy ventriloquist puppet Sid? Puppets couldn’t possibly kill people…or could they?
There’s nothing more terrifying than a nightmare that wakes you up in the middle of the night…unless it’s a nightmare that follows you throughout your entire day??? Unfortunately for The Scooby Gang, this week, their nightmares become their reality. Xander comes to school in his underwear, Giles suddenly discovers he can’t read, killer creepy clowns are on the loose, and Cordelia… is having a bad hair day (seriously terrifying stuff). Can our badass Buffy save Sunnydale before the nightmares fully take over? And more importantly, will Xander ever recover from being naked in class?
With a new baddie popping up every week, it can be hard for Buffy to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but in this episode she really can’t see it. No, like literally, she can’t see it, because the assailant is invisible. Who or what could this invisible menace be? A ghost? A wizard under an invisibility cloak? It’s the season 1 finale, baby! And boy oh boy is it a heart stopper! This week we learn Buffy’s true prophecy and she tries to kiss her life as the slayer goodbye in hopes of living a “normal” teenage life. But suddenly everything goes awry. And we mean reeeealllllly awry – you know, like the type of awry where the Earth cracks open and a whole army of demons emerge? Buffy jumps back into action with help from The Scooby Gang (but with little help from Angel…WTF dude?), and we get an ending that no one saw coming. There will be tears, and zaddy issues, and prom dresses, oh my. It’s a heavy season finale, and you won’t want to miss it.

We are back for season 2 baby!!! After a summer of self-reflection and time spent with her dad, Buffy is reunited with the Scooby Gang, but something about her seems…off. She’s acting rude and bitchy…like Cordelia-level bitchy. And if that wasn’t enough drama, the Master is back (kinda) and haunting Buffy in her dreams, while the Anointed One is causing all kinds of shit in Sunnydale. If this is just the beginning of Season 2 we are gripping on for dear life to see what comes next.
It’s science fair week at Sunnydale High, and everyone is bringing their A-game. Willow is working on winning first place (obviously), Cordelia is questioning whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable (it’s a fruit btw), and Chris Epp is building the “perfect girlfriend” made out of dead girls’ severed body parts. Only in Sunnydale! Chris’ science project / frankenstein girlfriend project is almost complete, but he’s convinced he needs Cordelia’s head as the final piece of his f’d up puzzle. So now Buffy and team have to save Cordelia (again), while also helping Giles with some much needed dating advice. To say they have their hands full this week is an understatement!
It’s finally happening. The moment Alaina and the entire Buffy the Vampire Slayer-loving universe has been waiting for: SPIKE. IS. HERE. That’s right — The bleached-blonde British baddie has sauntered into Sunnydale, and he’s not alone. He’s joined by Drusilla, who may currently seem feeble and harmless, but is as creepy as they come. This week, Buffy tries to survive her initial encounter with this dynamic duo, while Spike annihilates The Anointed One and fully cements himself as the new BIG BAD on the block.
It’s a big week for the Scooby gang. Time for a fun-filled field trip to a museum in preparation for their cultural exchange program with students from all around the world. Buffy actually begins to bond with her mysterious exchange student and Xander can’t keep his eyes or lips *hint hint* off of her. Of course it’s only a matter of time until the happiness unravels, because this week Buffy and crew are getting wrapped up in some mummy issues. And we’re definitely not in Kansas anymore, because Oz has arrived, and he only has a heart for Willow. Could her days of eating raisins alone at the bar finally be coming to an end???
Frat guys often get a bad rap as being snakes, but of course in Sunnydale the frat guys here actually ARE snakes…or giant weird lizard things to be more specific. This week Buffy begrudgingly agrees to hit up a frat party with Cordelia, and what begins as a night out to spread her wings (and maybe make Angel a bit jealous?) turns into a night of avoiding getting sacrificed to a giant lizard frat guy. Will the Scooby Gang be able to save Buffy and Cordelia from the lizard demon? Will Angel finally get the hint, and just take Buffy out on a coffee date? Tune in to find out!
Trick or Treat Weirdos? It’s spooky season in Sunnydale baby, and this episode does NOT disappoint! Buffy and the Scooby Gang dress up for hot girl Halloween (we see those abs Willow!) and volunteer to take some local kids trick or treating, when all the sudden everyone starts turning into their costume?!? Xander is an army dude, Willow is a ghost, and Buffy is an 18th century colonial woman / princess who has no idea how to kill a vampire. Super inconvenient costume choice Buffy! Plus it seems like Giles may have some sort of dirty secret? Say it ain't so our perfect tweed magic Watcher!
Buffy is surprised with a blast from the past when her childhood crush arrives in Sunnydale, and he’s checking all the boxes for her. Cute? Check. Makes Angel jealous? Check. Understands her duty as the slayer? Check. Dunks Oreos in apple juice? Ew, but check. He seems perfect on paper (except the apple juice thing) but of course he’s up to something. Turns out, Ford is part of a group of Vampire wannabes and decides his only way to become a vampire is to deliver Buffy to Spike himself. And if that wasn’t enough bad news for Buffy, she also catches Angel spending alone time with…..Drusilla?! And all of this in the same week she drops the big L word with Angel! Oh Buffy, this was a tough one.
Everybody has a past, and our favorite tweed wearing, library loving, British Watcher is no exception. This week’s episode is all about Giles (or should we say “Ripper”) having to confront his demons…literally. Just when things are starting to get steamy between him and Jenny Calendar, he totally gets cockblocked by a demon named Mark of Eyghon that Giles and his friends summoned when they were younger to possess them for fun…ya know just your average college debauchery. Luckily, The Scooby Gang is on the case with Willow stepping up to fill in for Giles as he deals with his heavy baggage. Maybe she has what it takes to be the next Watcher?!
It’s career week at Sunnydale High and everyone is anxious to see what the future holds. Xander gets matched as a prison guard, Cordelia gets matched as a personal shopper (SO on brand) or a motivational speaker (ummm…), Willow’s getting courted by some weird tech company (and hopefully Oz soon), and Buffy is forced to accept that the fact that a normal career just isn’t in the cards for her. Luckily Angel knows just how to cheer her up and takes Buffy ice skating for their first official date! FINALLY! But of course, no date in Sunnydale would be complete without one of Spike’s assassins crashing and attempting to murder Buffy. (Spike has assassins now?! Cool, cool.) Buffy hides out in Angel’s sad looking underground lair but is rudely interrupted by someone named Kendra who is making some pretty crazy claims that def change what the future holds for Buffy!
Double the slayer, double the fun, right?! Well, maybe not so much for Buffy. This week, Buffy reluctantly teams up with Kendra, the “other” vampire slayer who was somehow activated when Buffy died for half a second last season. Kendra is ALL about the rules (including the basics, like no dating vampires), has been studying the Slayer Handbook all her life, and honestly she might be the straight A-type slayer that Giles had always hoped for (Sorry Buff). Meanwhile the sexual tension in this episode is out of control. Drusilla calls Angel “Daddy,” Xander and Cordelia make out…more than once, and Willow and Oz finally get some one on one time. Can Angel be saved from Spike? Will Buffy lose her title as The Slayer? Will Cordelia and Xander become Sunnydale’s new “it couple” and force us to come up with a name for them like Xandelia??
The first rule of living in Sunnydale: NEVER SAY IT’S QUIET! With Dru and Spike out of the picture (for now) Buffy thinks she is going to have a nice, quiet week until she is faced with her scariest nightmare yet…seeing her mom, Joyce making out with some random dude. Sure, Ted is gainfully employed, a talented cook and interested in building a future with Joyce, but Buffy can’t shake the feeling that this future doesn’t really include her. His over-the-top demeanor and eagerness to lovebomb Joyce, Xander and Willow are annoying, but Buffy lands in SERIOUS trouble, (like possible jail time trouble) when she goes head to head with Ted, and he ends up in a bodybag. The Scooby Gang knows Buffy isn’t a cold blooded murderer, so they set out to figure out what the hell is up with no longer dead Ted (Did we mention he came back from the dead?!)
We’ve always known Sunnydale is filled with a few “bad eggs” (I mean it’s on top of a Hellmouth, what do you expect?), but this week the Scooby Gang is literally dealing with rotten eggs filled with alien-like scorpion creatures for a parenting project in health class. All this talk of parenting and the future has everyone acting extra horny and no one can seem to keep their hands off each other. Angel and Buffy make out non-stop in a graveyard (hot) and Xordelia faces the relationship hurdle of whether or not they even like each other while simultaneously playing ‘Seven Minutes in Heaven' in the janitor’s closet (hot x2). And if that wasn’t enough to deal with for one week, two vampire brothers from the Wild West named Lyle and Tector show up in Sunnydale with all the intentions of making Buffy’s life Hell. Will Buffy have to fight two big bads this week or will these new cowboy vampires (because that’s a thing now) help her destroy the mother of these gross gooey egg creatures?
Grab your party hats and a slice of birthday cake because it’s Buffy’s 17th birthday, and everyone’s invited! Even Drusilla and Spike have a special gift for Buff! It happens to be a dismembered demon who has the ability to cause the apocalypse, but it’s the thought that counts right?! So, like…Beep me! I guess? Buffy has some spooky dreams that turn concerningly prophetic which causes her to stress about Angel and his future (or lack thereof), but that doesn’t stop her from taking her relationship with him to the next level…. If you know what we mean ;) Meanwhile, the Scoobs are up to some secret plans of their own with a surprise party for Buffy, spearheaded by Giles. While Giles is preoccupied with leading the party planning committee, Jenny gets a visit from her uncle which reveals her surprising connection to Angel, making us doubt her allegiance to the Scooby Gang.
Don’t let the title fool you because there is nothing innocent about this heart wrenching episode. You’d think after their steamy and romantic night together that Buffy and Angel would be in post- sexy time bliss, but because this is Sunnydale and no one can ever truly be happy, Angel loses his soul while ‘giving Buffy her birthday present’ (yes… that’s a euphemism), and we’re all collectively wishing it weren’t so! Reunited with Dru & Spike, the true Angelus unleashes his inner fuckboi and plans a campaign against Buffy to make her regret ever making him love her. We regret ever loving YOU, Angel! While Buffy’s world is ending, the Scooby Gang seems to have plenty of issues of their own. Xander shows what a clueless nimwit he is when it comes to women when Willow catches him making out with Cordelia, Uncle Basset Hound reveals that Buffy is fated to kill Angel, but at least Jenny shows that she’s still on Team-Scoob!
A werewolf is on the loose this week, and not only is he a major pain in the ass for Buffy, but he is a major cockblock for Xordelia! Knowledge-drunk Giles hits the books and breaks out his globes to research everything there is to know on werewolves, while the rest of the gang deals with the chaos in their own ever-evolving romantic relationships. Willow wants smoochies, Cordelia wants Xander to focus on HER instead of Willow, and poor Buffy wants to forget about the fuckboi who shall NOT be named. Willow’s relationship status shifts to “it’s complicated” when we find out the identity of the werewolf who can’t fight the moonlight. Plus, everyone is shocked when the episode's true villain, Theresa (how dare she treat her BFF Buffy like this!) turns up dead. Get ready to bite into the backstory no one ever knew existed… this week on The Rewatcher.
"It’s Valentine’s Day this week, but Cupid seems to be MIA because Sunnydale High is filled with breakups, love spells, and actual human hearts as gifts; though this feels on brand for Sunnydale. And say it ain’t so – our fave couple Xordelia calls it quits and Xander is feeling all the feels. Butthurt and heartbroken, Xander enlists Amy (remember her?!) to channel her inner witch and conjure up a love spell. It quickly becomes VERY evident that she done messed up, when EVERY WOMAN aside from Cordi starts noticing what a hot lil’ nugget Xander is. Of course things escalate to violence as the group of lovesick puppies start a literal mob and fight to the death for Xander. We even questioned if we were affected by the spell because during a Xander thirst trap moment, Ash started questioning if she’s even an Angel girlie anymore! BUT not to worry because Cordi has a big moment of growth this episode and we spoil you with some heartfelt advice from Ash and Alaina.
Buckle Up Rewatchers because apparently no one is safe in Sunnydale and our hearts can’t take the pain much longer! It doesn’t take a Watcher to figure out that Angel is like… OBSESSED with Buffy right now and is determined to make her life a living hell. He’s leaving creepy (yet very beautiful) drawings of her on her pillow while she sleeps, showing up on her doorstep, telling Joyce about their sex life, and killing Willow’s pet fish, because like we said, NO ONE is safe in Sunnydale...not even the fish! While Angel is busy tormenting Buffy and the Scoobs, Jenny is determined to redeem herself by finding a way to help Angel restore his soul. Things heat up again between Jenny and Giles, but nothing good lasts forever in this town and Angel sends the gang a message that he is NOT fucking around anymore which shakes the Scoobs (and us) to the core.
To say Buffy is tough is an understatement, I mean she has fought off her fair share of evil demons the past two seasons, so is anyone else a little surprised to see that it’s the flu that lands her in the hospital?! As she is admitted to HIPPA Violation Memorial Hospital, she is forced to face some traumatic feelings from the past while also playing babysitter of the year and protecting all the kids in the hospital from a very creepy and terrifying creature called “Death” (super creative name). Per usual, the Scoobs jump in to help Buffy figure out what this creature is and how to defeat it while Joyce shoots her shot with Giles, because no one can resist that tweed magic! Can Buffy defeat Death? Or does she need to accept that in life there are only two things that are certain, death and having sex with a vampire is a bad idea.
It's the eve of the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and the Hellmouth has some fresh bullshit for Buffy and the gang to deal with. Things get violent when students start reenacting a ghostly echo of a dispute between the spirits of two felonious star-crossed lovers from 1955. Spooky yet…romantic? Giles is in denial thinking Jenny is reaching out from beyond, but Willow knows better and delves into Jenny's Pagan sources to deal with the haunting of the Hellmouth without Giles' aid. Meanwhile, Cordi’s biggest issue this week is the prospect that the girls have to ask the boys to the dance AND PAY!? Through all this, Angel, Spike and Dru have some cringe moments while they figure out if they're going to "Love it or List it!" Get ready, Rewatchers! This episode had us shook!
What is going on with the Sunnydale Swim team!? Last week they had jicama breath and we didn’t even know they existed, and now they're walking the halls like they own the damn place? Sure, they won the State Semi-Finals and apparently don’t actually have to EARN their computer grades (much to Willow and Xander’s dismay), but it definitely seems that something more than winning is getting to their heads. Much to everyone’s dismay, Principal Snyder is back, commiserating with the equally awful Coach Carl, and the two of them will go to ANY length to win State… even if that means turning the swim team into slimy, creepy, Gill Monsters. Per usual, it’s up to the Scoobs to save the day! Will the gang figure out how to defeat The Sea Man? Who summoned him in the first place? And why the hell are they so good at Synchronized Swimming? Maybe they’ll still win a State Championship after all! So dive in to rewatch, listen, and laugh with us this week on The Rewatcher!
This episode is a big one!! In Part One of the Two-Part season finale, Nondescript Voiceover Guy shows us the formative moments of Angel's existence. We travel back to the 1700’s to see Angel shooting his shot with Darla and how terribly wrong it goes. We see his first meeting with Dru, the curse being cast, and of course the MOST formative moment, when he first saw Buffy Summers (and was able to look past that terrible outfit she was wearing at the time). In between walks down memory lane, Buffy and the gang are faced with an unearthed tomb containing a Demon who could suck all life into hell for eternal torment...oh, and also final exams. Buffy resigns to dusting Angelus until a found floppy disk (remember those?) reveals that Ms. Calendar had cracked the restore-the-curse-code. So now it’s moral dilemma time Rewatchers! Should Buffy try to get her boyfriend back and transform Angelus back into Angel, or should he pay for what he’s done?
The season 2 finale is here and OMG we have A LOT of things to process! Kendra is dead, Buffy is on the run from the cops, and Giles is MIA, but at least the rest of the Scoobs seem to be okay and are recovering over at HIPPA Violation Memorial. With Buffy on her own she’s forced to forge an unconventional alliance with Spike of all vampires because they both have the same end goal: Kill Angel. Can Spike and Buffy stop Angel and save the world? Does Willow have some secret powers we didn’t know about? How is Joyce going to handle the news that Buffy is a vampire slayer? And most importantly, why the hell is Giles making out with Dru?! Rewatch, sniffle, sob, gather yourself, and listen as Ash and Alaina trauma bond over the sadness of the season 2 finale!

It’s senior year but Sunnydale is missing their most valuable slayer! While Buffy is off in NYC trying to start a new life, the Scoobs are left defending Sunnydale from vampires, and let’s just say, it’s not going….well. Everyone is tense AF because Joyce is blaming Giles for Buffy’s disappearance, Xander and Cordi are mad at each other for no reason, and our favorite couple Ozlow is on the fritz! Meanwhile, in The Big Apple, Buffy has her own Big Bad to deal with, and of course it just so happens to be the kind that enslaves runaway teens, which honestly, is pretty on brand for Buffy right now! Join us as we laugh about an episode filled with quiet quitters, sassy big bads, and BEAUTIFUL shots of Cameron's Mom.
Buffy is back from New Angeles (IYKYK) ready to get her life back on track, but everyone is acting weird, and not in the usual Sunnydale kind of way. Joyce is trying way too hard with Buffy, while Giles, Willow, and Xander are treating her like she has the plague, (no doubt from Joyce’s shitty comments from last week’s episode. #BadChoiceJoyce). Joyce tries to get Buffy back to school, but of course Principal Snyder is putting up a fight and getting all tingly in the process (EW! Get a room you gross little man!). The Scoobs attempt to bury their resentment of Buffy’s time in #NewAngeles by throwing a “Welcome Back Bash” chock full of both ‘Hoot’ and a dash of ‘Nanny’.
After a shaky start to the season, things FINALLY seem to be falling into place. The Scoobs are hanging at the Bronze, Joyce and Buffy are bonding over bullying Principal Snyder, and Buffy might even have a new love interest?! (Willow will MAKE THAT SHIT HAPPEN even if it kills her!) But wait! We know good things in this town don’t last long, and Sunnydale has some new residents that are sure to cause some chaos. While we might think Kakistos and Mr. Trick are Big Bad material, we’re pretty sure Buffy would give that title to Faith, the newest vampire slayer in town (yes there’s ANOTHER one, RIP Kendra). Is there room in Sunnydale for two slayers?! History tells us no (RIP Kendra x2), but go rewatch and tell us what you think!
When a student is found mauled during Oz’s time of the month, the gang worries that Xander’s inability to babysit might have enabled Oz to become a murderer. Well…NOT OZ-Oz! Just WOLF-Oz! The Scoobs split up to figure out what’s going on in hopes of preventing another death.Meanwhile, Buffy is attacked by a VERY feral half-clothed Angel during a sweep of the forest. Sure, he’s Hot AF but is he “moonlighting” as a murdering beast now (Get it? Moons? Werewolves?) Or maybe he’s just pissed about the whole “Buffy banishing him to the demon dimension for 100 years thing” (whoops sorry about that bud!). Is Oz innocent? Is Angel? Or is there a new kind of monster on the loose?
This week in Sunnydale, the competition is heating up faster than a vampire in sunlight! Cordis' complete lack of filter inspires a freshly dumped Buffy to awaken her inner homecoming queen and “stake” her claim at the crown. The dynamics of the Scooby gang get further splintered when Willow and Xander share a kiss that has all of us freaking out. They overcorrect by going #teamCordi and supporting her cut-throat campaign for the crown, leaving Buffy bewildered and kinda pissed! But that’s not the only competition in Sunnydale this week! Mr. Trick has assembled a ragtag group of assassins to take part in Slayerfest ’98 to collect the bounty on Buffy and Faith’s heads! We’ve got Texture and Josie, supermodels, survivalists and Kulack who has the best damn mohawk we’ve ever seen! When a demon named Lagos RSVP’s to come pick up his FAVORITE apocalyptic accessory in Sunnydale, the fate of humanity lies in Buffy & Faith’s hands. Unfortunately for them, their slaying groove comes to a grinding halt when an uppity killjoy comes to town announcing she’s been chosen by the Watchers Council as Faith’s new Watcher. She’s passive aggressive and intent on bashing Giles’ methods for…well, just about everything!! Meanwhile, Buffy gets an intervention after Xander spies on her during her make-out sesh with Angel. When Joyce shows up to #ProudSlayerMom her way through Buffy's patrol session, (good choice Joyce!) she stumbles upon two dead children in the middle of a crime scene that truly shakes her. Understandably distraught and grief-stricken, Joyce is consumed with putting people into motion to figure out WTF is going on, and purge the community of not only the big bads that haunt the Hellmouth, but the witches and the slayers?! What the HELL Joyce! We were rooting for you! We were ALL rooting for you! Things hit close to home, when the community looks to scapegoat Willow, Amy, Buffy and Lydio Deetz, and "cleanse" them in a fire made from Giles' beloved book collection.
It’s Buffy’s 18th birthday, and she can’t wait to celebrate with her dad at the ice show, but if history tells us anything it’s that Buffy’s birthdays are never filled with cotton candy and triple salchows! While on patrol, Buffy isn’t feeling herself, and #GASP her slayer powers are waning! As if things couldn’t get any worse for the birthday girl, Buffy’s dad cancels on her and Giles starts injecting her with stuff to dull her slayer powers. Sure, the council made him do it, but we're FURIOUS and don't give an Amy's ass about your excuses, Sir!
Buffy, Faith, Giles, Angel and Willow square off against the Sisterhood of Jhe, who plan to reopen the Hellmouth and bring back the apocalypse. Up against the clock, and fearing his clumsy attempts at heroism, the gang decided NOT to beep Xander for this apocalypse. Shaken to the core by a conversation with Cordi, Xander seeks out a way to prove that he is more than just “The Zeppo” by embarking on a ridiculous romp filled with zombies, penis metaphors, and of course, Katie, who proves to be even sharper than Cordi's razor sharp insults.
When the new watcher Wesley arrives in Sunnydale, Buffy chooses to match Faith's 'fuck it all' attitude and gets a taste of the wild side by following Faith’s lead for a change. Unfortunately, a gaggle of assholes in Renaissance garb are in town, signaling the reemergence of a nasty ass demon named Balthazar. Intent on snuffing them out, AND living it up, Buffy and Faith tear up the town, recklessly endangering themselves, and anyone else who gets in their way.
After murdering Deputy Mayor Mayohands, Faith continues on her path to ruin, being a complete asshole to Buffy (no more #Fuffy moments for these two!) The girls’ new watcher sends them on a mission to track down the killer (awkward!) and Buffy continues to plead that they get Giles' help but Faith wants no part of it. When Detective Mustache closes in on Buffy and Faith as suspects, all hell breaks loose. Faith pulls some SERIOUS fuckshit, Xander clumsily admits that he and Faith fooked, and Buffy attempts to backtrack on being a strong contender for 'Shittiest Friend of 1999'.
This week is a tough one for Willow. First, she's getting forced to tutor an entitled douchebro by Snyder, then, she’s ordered to hack into the mayor's files by Giles, and worst of all, she’s left out of fun plans because she's so reliable and BORING! (Balthazar's wording, not ours!) Determined to do SOMETHING for herself, she teams up with Anya to practice a lil witchcraft, but of course shit doesn't go according to plan and they accidentally summon Vampire Willow from the Wishiverse who causes all sorts of confusion and chaos in Sunnydale.
When a demon book trader tries to pawn The Books of Ascension to Buffy and Faith, trust between the two of them goes out the window. Faith shows her allegiance to the mayor by playing the role of demonic hitwoman and trying to seduce Angel into giving up the ghost…literally. Adding fuel to the fire, Buffy sees Faith and Angel in a rather ~intimate~ moment and obviously begins spiraling hard core.
When Buffy slays a telepathic gremlin-like demon, she becomes infected with the ability to hear everyone’s thoughts. It’s GREAT…at first, but of course, everything nice comes with a price. As the powers intensify, Buffy overhears someone plotting a mass murder at school but is unable to determine the source before she’s forced to isolate to protect her sanity. And there’s more: Buffy gets a bit of an ego boost from guys who think she’s GORGEOUS (even if some make her feel like she needs to take a lava bath afterward), she’s able to cheat off of that bitch Nancy, AND she gets to make Wesley Wyndham Price squirm! WOW!
When Buffy gets accepted into Northwestern, #goodchoiceJoyce loses her damn mind, Giles is a proud zaddy, and the Scoobs are super impressed. However, Buffy realizes that moving away for school may not be the best idea considering her Hellmouth slayer responsibilities. Determined to strike the first blow at the Mayor’s doorstep, Buffy and the Scoobs go rogue from Wesley Wyndam Price’s dumbass plan. They figure out a way to steal the Mayor’s thunder and embark on a mission that feels more action-packed superhero movie than Buffy episode.
It’s prom, and everyone is excited to get gussied up and party like it’s 1999…mostly because it is! Well everyone except Angel, who has allowed the mayor's seeds of doubt to take root and has developed serious cold feet about his relationship with Buffy. Unfortunately, the Hellmouth hath no fury like a fragile man scorned. King of the InCels, decides to take his revenge on the senior class prom by unleashing hellhounds who have, of course, been brainwashed to attack people in formal wear. But this party isn’t like any other one, this one gets straight up demonic and isn’t what anyone had in mind for Halloween!
Ugh, our girl Buffy still cannot get over that fuckboy Parker Abrams! In an attempt to drown her sorrows, she turns to many MANY pints of beer with her new asshole “friends” at the pub where Xander has picked up bartending. But of course, shit always gets weird in Hellmouth — Buffy starts speaking in monosyllabic sentences and stealing sandwiches out of her classmate’s hand. So naturally, it’s up to Xander and Giles to step in and help figure out wtf she’s doing. Meanwhile, Oz and Willow deal with their own Veruca-related problems.
There’s a full moon, and we all know what that means for our favorite werewolf Oz! To prevent him from hurting anyone, he locks himself in a cage…with that bitch Veruca who — SURPRISE! — is also a werewolf. Shit hits the fan when Willow walks in on a naked Veruca canoodling her beloved Oz. Luckily, Buffy and Xander hurry to comfort Willow while she decides if she should curse Oz and Veruca to a life of misery forever. The silver lining (if there even is one at all): Buffy is killing it in Walsh’s class! Meanwhile, Riley has an epiphany and realizes that Buffy is a fucking beautiful weirdo! Willow does Riley a kindness and acts as an unofficial wing woman to get him her digies! If that wasn’t enough drama, Spike is back!!! After escaping a high-tech detainment center, he plans to wreak havoc in Hellmouth with his sights set on Willow and Buffy.
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving in Sunnydale without turkey, yams, a visit from your ex-boyfriend, and your dinner ruined by angry spirits! When Xander accidentally finds an underground historical building, a vengeful spirit of a Chumash warrior is unleashed and wreaks havoc on everyone he encounters. Meanwhile, Angel comes back to Sunnydale after learning about Doyle’s vision which led him to think that Buffy is in imminent danger. Plus, a sickly Spike wanders from place to place in search of shelter and a bloody meal!

We start with Buffy rolling into New Angelus after the chaotic events of Buffy: Season 4 Episode 8 (Pangs) ready to have a conversation about Angel’s pathetic invisible man act in Sunnydale. While she’s there, an OSHA violation of demonic sorts turns Angel mortal, leaving him and Buffy to figure out what that means for their relationship. We know there’s lots of brooding involved!
Still reeling from Oz’s abrupt departure, Willow decides to end her day by dropping by his old room for some quality t-shirt sniffing time, but this routine is quickly cut short when she walks into his EMPTY BEDROOM and is absolutely gutted! Determined to skip past the hard part of grief, she casts a spell in an attempt to will her pain away. It seems like the spell was a dud until her off-the-cuff remarks start coming to fruition in HILARIOUS ways leading to an impaired Giles and a lovey dovey Buffy.

Reeling from the fact that Walsh attempted to kill her, Buffy convinces the Scoobs to take shelter at Xander’s even though Giles is NOT stoked about the relocation! Riley struggles with the revelation of Walsh’s death, and Forrest fully transforms into a complete dickhole. When Faith hijacks Buffy's body-ody-ody, she sets out to create as much chaos as possible — flirting with Spike, making Tara SUPER uncomfortable, and calling out Xander's lack of stamina.
The Scoobs turn to Johnathan for help when a nest gets nasty, and even though Buffy can’t get Faith’s fookery out of her head, she can tell something isn’t quite right with Jonathan. Meanwhile, Tara gets beaten by a grody beige demon, and Xander and Anya bicker over whether or not Anya moaned Jonathan’s name in a tender moment.
Buffy and Riley can NOT keep their hands off each other! Not only is this making the edgers uncomfortable, but it’s also summoning some highly unwanted poltergeists. And it’s not just the two love birds that are getting all hot and heavy — ALL the frat party guests are feeling something special…with the wall!!
We’re back in New Angeles with Ash & Angel! Faith shows up in town to unleash some hell upon the populace, and Wolfram & Hart seize the opportunity to hire her to do away with our boy Angel!
When Oz arrives back to Sunnydale, Willow is torn between her past with him and her present “spellwork” with Tara. Buffy is getting fed up with Riley’s regimented behaviors, and Xander is vying to regain his spot in Oz’s good graces.
When the three elite headhunters from The Council show up to take out Faith, they attempt to seduce Wesley into helping them with promises of reinstatement into his role as watcher. The asshats at Wolfram & Hart attempt to tie up loose ends, and Buffy makes a surprise visit at a VERY unfortunate moment.
This episode is brought to you by GAMES! Spike is playing Big Brother, Angel and Riley are duking it out to figure out who is going to be the next WWE superstar, and Adam is playing chess with people’s lives. Then, the Scoobs are forced to face the fact that shit is NOT okay in season 4 when Spike plants some seeds of discord that QUICKLY take root and force them to grow apart.
We've (almost) made it!! It's the penultimate episode, but it SURE feels like a season finale to us! Spike overplays his hand which gets Buffy's gears turning about how fucked up everyone was acting last week. Meanwhile, Neapolitan Adam has brother bonding time with Riley and Forrest, Walsh’s reappearance causes a jump scare, and The Scoobs reunite in a very much needed happily ever after moment.
We've reached another milestone — the end of season 4! This week, Buffy and the gang accidentally fall asleep and fall victim to their own subconscious AND are stalked by a fearsome figure who takes them out one by one. Shit gets DEEP!
Dracula is in town and the gang is effed up! Giles is feeling useless, Xander, Tara, and Riley are clearly jelly, and Buffy is shook that THE Dracula came all this way just to see her.
Who was that sibling imposter last episode!?!?!?! Well, we FINALLY find out! Dawn joins the show, but feels a little iced out of the action and SOOOO not part of the Scooby gang! Harmony tries and fails to lead her own gang, Giles turns tragedy into opportunity, and Joyce acts like kind of an asshole! Bad choice Joyce!

When he accidentally shoots Xander with his magic rod instead of Buffy, everyone’s worst nightmare (and maybe some people’s dream) comes true when Sunnydale finds itself with TWO Xanders roaming around! Meanwhile, Buffy comes across a delicious looking glowing orb, and wonders WTF it is! Is it something dangerous? Is it related to Joyce's ongoing health issues?? Is it a beautiful cake topper!?
It's Tara's birthday, and NO ONE is excited - well, except for Willaralow! Buffy confides in her dad (Giles) about Dawn being an energy key and shit and he is flummoxed! Meanwhile, the nameless 'Bring it On' demon is on a RAMPAGE - ready to crush that koont that had the audacity to break her stiletto AND steal her monk. SO fucking rude! BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Tara's family has come to Sunnydale, and they're a bunch of Ass-Mouths™!
