Jason soll bei Mrs. Wilken's Musikfest spielen. Da sie seinen Freund Josh, einen Schwarzen, nicht auftreten lassen will, verzichtet auch Jason auf die Teilnahme. Die Waltons wollen ihr eigenes Fest feiern. Doch Josh hat keine Lust mehr mitzumachen.
Jason practices his music for a town festival. He finds Josh, Verdie's son, plays the horn. They practice together. The festival organizers do not want Josh. Elizabeth and Aimee Godsey compete for the same boy.
