  • S01E01 Cash & Carry

The squad investigates a security van robbery which looks like an inside job. Meanwhile, escaped convict Dennis Worsley wants revenge – and Tate is top of his list.

    DS Helen Ash finds herself torn between work and home when she's put in charge of a large-scale stake-out operation to catch a gang of armed robbers. It's an important assignment, but Helen's husband David, who's also a police officer, is doing everything he can to make her job harder. He's jealous of her position as a detective sergeant in the Flying Squad while he's only a constable, He wants her to transfer out of the Squad, but she lives for her job and she can't let go.. When David refuses to look after their children, Helen has to leave her observation point to go home. But where does that leave the rest of her team? A serious of violent robberies prompts the Armed Robbery Squad to launch a he-tech surveillance operation on the suspect, Gil Rogers. However, he uses his army training to stay ahead of the squad – until Ash makes a shocking discovery.

    An armed gang bursts into a plush London casino and shoots Detective Sgt Bob ‘Bingo' Tate who's working undercover as a punter. The raiders take a terrified croupier hostage before escaping with thousands of pounds, and it's touch and go for Bingo. Harris stays undercover to find out who tipped off the villains, while the squad tracks down the people who escaped.

  • S01E09 Wasteland

    This action-packed series draws to a dramatic close with DC Grace Harris raiding the blazing headquarters of a sinister religious cult called the Core. She goes in undercover posing as a new recruit, to infiltrate them (a dangerous task as the charismatic cult leader has a habit of chopping off people's fingers) to help catch members of the sect who have robbed a bank. But the case becomes very hot to handle when the cult leader sets the building on fire in a Waco-style siege. Harris's undercover work confirms Scott's worst fears – that the cult members are prepared to die for the charismatic leader. On a lighter note DI Scott hears his wife Stephanie has gone into labour just as the squad go into action.

Season 2

  • S02E01 Going Under

    The new series opens in dramatic fashion, when DCI Alan Oxford goes undercover to infiltrate a Manchester gang. But his true identity is known by them and they take him hostage. In one harrowing scene Alan is taped up from the neck down, with a strip over his mouth, and put in a coffin.

    DS Tate infiltrates a gang of armed robbers, posing as the boyfriend of their getaway driver. But the closer he gets to the heart of the gang, the more the operations is threatened.

  • S02E03 A Dead Man

    As three robbers make their getaway with £2.5 million worth of rubies, a second gang, disguised as the Flying Squad, takes the gems, and its leader, Frank McGrath, shoots the robbers. Scott is hampered by an officious lawyer and by McGrath's mission to exterminate his cohorts.

    When DC Grace Harris falls into bed with a robbery witness, she ends up putting more than her heart on the line. The normally tough-as-old-boots copper endangers her career and her life when she falls for smooth-talking Francis Conte, who turns out to have all the charm of a rattlesnake.

    Donachie's past comes back to haunt him in the shape of an armed robber he helped frame. The tables are turned on DC Ted Donachie when he's found with the loot from a bank raid. So, apart from the affair he once had with colleague Grace Harris, what other skeletons is the strong, silent but looking-guiltier-by-the-minute Ted hiding in his closet?

    There's a tragic twist in store as this tense police drama reaches a dramatic crescendo with the trial of evil Frank McGrath. The cruel hit man has launched a vendetta against DI Charlie Scott but it soon becomes clear that the detective's wife and child are also in danger from the villain. Charlie Scott's a dedicated copper but he's also a devoted husband and father, who would give his life to protect his family. Is that what he's going to have to do? After McGrath is found not guilty, Scott considers his future in the Met. He and Stephanie take a break in Cornwall, but they are pursued by McGrath.

Struggling to comes to terms with the loss of their leader, the squad is thrown into turmoil by a racially explosive case. As the situation spirals out of control, a trouble-shooter is brought in to manage the media, ruffling many feathers.

    Fashion can be a cut-throat business but it rarely descends into murder. The Flying Squad discover a gruesome side to the glamorous world of haute couture, though, when the investigate an international ring of designer clothes counterfeiters. The team is forced to take on help from Pieter Kluivert, a Dutch detective who has a personal vendetta against the ring's Mr Big. However, DI Glenn Matteo has a feeling not everything about Kluivert's role in the investigation is above board. Armed robbers ambush a fashion show and steal thousands of pounds worth of clothes. Then a visiting Dutch detective appeals for the Flying Squad's help in tracking down an arms dealer who murdered his son and claims that the man is linked to the fashion raid.

    DCI Nick Hall finds old adversaries from his past on his patch. Matteo clashes with Hall, the new DCI, over the theft of army explosives.     The Armed Robbery Squad have to deal with s sinister threat from the Far East. After the team foils a raid on a Japanese bank, DC Alan Oxford discovers the crime wasn't what it seemed. The investigation soon reveals the violent underworld of the Yakuza (the Japanese version of the Mafia). And the fashion-conscious Oxford has to baby-sit a vulnerable trader.
