Not far from Mountain Jam is the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the site of the iconic 1969 Woodstock music festival.   • S02E02 Monsters of Rock Cruise

    When we told Eddie Trunk to find out what was in “Davy Jones’ Locker” this isn’t what we meant! On season two of TrunkFest we’re headed to some epic festivals and the 9th annual Monsters of Rock Cruise is no exception to this. The Monsters of Rock Cruise is an all-out rock & roll festival that sails through Ochos Rios, Jamaica and the private island of Labadee. This cruise takes place on a Royal Caribbean® Mariner of the Seas ship and is home to about 2,000 guests for five jam-packed days on the high seas. The ship is full of waterslides, a casino, a bungee jump, and of course the loudest music on land or sea! Tag along with Eddie as he speaks with many rock legends such as Tesla, Tom Kiefer of Cinderella, Extreme, and Rick Allen of Def Leppard. Eddie also sits down with festival producers Mike London and Larry Morand. Since you need to know what putting on giant rock cruise entails, Eddie’s got you covered when he gets the inside scoop on what it takes to produce this five-day floating party nine years in a row! Eddie also meets up with Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine to catch up and compete in a friendly game of ski ball.

  • S02E03 Country Jam & Campout

    Make sure you have your cowboy boots and hats ready for this episode! In episode three of TrunkFest, Eddie takes us to the Midwest to attend Country Jam and Campout in Thornville, Ohio. Eddie gets the full campout experience and stays in a tricked-out RV on the grounds of the festival, along with the majority of the other festival goers. During his first day of camping at this all-out country music festival, Eddie goes driving in an ATV with the man behind the whole festival, John Reese and learns what it takes to put on a giant campout and festival like Country Jam. He also watches the enormous Monster Jam monster trucks drive around and then speaks to their owners about what it takes to own and manage these monsters. Eddie also interviews singer-songwriter and producer, Jon Pardi, about playing live and learns about his experience touring with top country artists as well as his own experience with being a rising star in the world of country music. Eddie also interviews another Country Jam performer, Craig Campbell, and they discuss Campbell’s band’s history and the charities that Campbell is personally involved in. Besides speaking to top country artists, monster truck owners, and festival producers, Eddie also explores all the extra things this festival offers. He samples the craft food offered at the festival, such as the signature “Redneck Nachos”, gets private line dancing lessons, and rides the “Ohio Party Bull”.

    Pack your ski coats for this chilling TrunkFest episode! This week Eddie Trunk takes a break from the summer heat and travels far above sea level to Colorado for the Vail Snow Days festival. The town of Vail sits about eight thousand feet above sea level and is surrounded by snow-capped mountain ranges and breathtaking views that set a perfect scene for the Vail Snow Days festival. Eddie takes advantage of the world-famous Vail Ski Resort and goes skiing for the first time in 30 years (Don’t worry, he had an instructor with him!) After hitting the slopes, Eddie does a little Après-ski (a French word that means any post-skiing or snowboarding activities) and travels to 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirits to sample various whiskeys and vodkas that are made locally outside of Vail with ingredients found in Colorado. Eddie also interviews some special local guests such as two news anchors from a local “First Chair” news show in Vail that reports on the ski conditions every day, along with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Vail, and gets some local information on the town of Vail and how festival-goers can make the most of their stay in Vail. Besides taking in local amenities, Eddie also meets up with Rock and Roll royalty, Duane Betts and Devon Allman from the Allman-Betts band. Eddie gets an inside scoop about their new album, how they formed their new band, and what it is like to perform at such high altitude and cold temperatures. Eddie also interviews Nathaniel Rateliff and Joseph Pope from Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and learns about the band’s formation and history.

  • S02E05 Hangout Music Festival

    On this next episode of TrunkFest, Eddie Trunk heads down south to Gulf Shores, Alabama for Hangout Music Festival. Hangout Festival offers all guests a beach vacation like no other, and with everything from the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores to multiple carnival rides, there is always something for guests to do during this three-day long extravaganza. Besides watching the star-studded lineup, Hangout Festival guests can tour RVs, swim in the ocean, dance at beach clubs, roller skate, sail, relax in a hammock or at the spa, play beach volleyball, kiss puppies, and maybe even get married to that special someone at the wedding chapel! Eddie soaks up the sun while enjoying many of these activities including puppy kissing, playing slip n slide kickball, enjoying the gourmet food & drinks, and even witnessing a surprise wedding! Eddie interviews the band Judah & the Lion, an American alternative band from Nashville that formed at Belmont University in 2011. Eddie and the three band members Judah Akers, Brian Macdonald, and Nate Zuercher, meet up to talk about how their band formed, the music influences that they bring to their own music, and goals they had for their new album. Eddie also chats with lovelytheband, an American indie pop band which started in 2016 in Los Angeles, about their favorite parts about Hangout Music Festival and their band’s journey.

  • S02E06 NAMM

    Eddie Trunk and the TrunkFest crew are headed to the Golden State for the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show! This convention is held in the Anaheim Convention Center and hosts over 7,000 music brands. NAMM also hosts many iconic artists and allows music lovers interact with them through Q&A sessions throughout many different areas in the convention center. This convention is the ultimate music-lover experience with everything for music fans to experience and enjoy from famous artist meetings to their musical equipment! Eddie chats with the CEO and president of Gibson, James Curleigh, and Chief Merchant Officer, Cesar Gueikian, about Gibson’s return to NAMM and some new equipment they will be rolling out! Eddie also hangs out in the Gibson booths and VIP areas to meet up with Vivian Campbell and Dave Amato to talk about their music careers and what is next for them. Eddie also chats with Heart’s Nancy Wilson to talk about her festival experiences and a new Gibson guitar design she is working on. Eddie also interviews iconic musicians The Doors’ Robby Krieger and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons. Eddie also shows us some exhibits in the convention center, including the works of photographer Neal Preston, known for his work with famous musicians such as Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, and many more. Preston was the only person allowed to photograph Led Zeppelin from the stage in the 70’s and the only person allowed to photograph Queen at Live Aid from the stage. Preston talks to Eddie about what it was like photographing many iconic moments in music history and shows us some of his famous works.

  • S02E07 The Golden Anniversary of Woodstock

    In Bethel Woods, New York, 1969 history was made. Woodstock festival was planned to be a three-day music festival with 32 musical acts and just over 150,000 festival attendees, but it turned into so much more. Not only did the festival grow from 150,000 fans to 500,000 fans, but no one could have anticipated that the impact of Woodstock would reach all the way to 50 years after that fateful weekend ended. With Mount Rushmore worthy artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Santana, Woodstock has become the landmark experience that music festivals today strive to recreate in different ways. Eddie Trunk takes us to this historical town to speak with music producer Andy Zax, who is making an album of recordings from the original Woodstock stage performances. Andy Zax tells Eddie that he is dedicated to keeping the content from the Woodstock tapes true to the original performance and gives us an inside look into what it takes to compile and restore these original tape recordings. Eddie also sits down with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee, John Sebastian from The Lovin’ Spoonful. John recounts his experience being helicoptered into the festival and performing at Woodstock to Eddie and also explains how his music-filled childhood influenced his career path. You don’t want to miss this history-filled episode all about the famous Woodstock Festival!

  • S02E08 Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp

    We’re not going to Vegas for the gambling or partying, we’re going for the camping! Eddie Trunk is taking us to Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp to jam out with rock legends Lou Gramm, Joe Perry, and Vince Neil! Rock ‘N’ Roll fantasy camp was created to give the public the opportunity to experience the life of a rock star alongside actual rock stars. The tremendously talented counselors at Rock ‘N’ Roll fantasy camp share the knowledge they’ve gained on their many years in the industry with the campers. Here’s a little info about a day in the life of a Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp camper: Before arriving, campers are given a list of songs to practice, then they get placed in a band with other equally-skilled attendees. Then, these bands get assigned one of the “Rock Star Counselors” to mentor their band for the entire duration of the festival. Throughout their stay, campers get the opportunity to learn from all the counselors, meet headlining guest stars in their band’s rehearsal rooms, and perform live with their band at popular venues in front of crowds that include friends and family! Skills are gained, fears are conquered, friendships are formed, music is created, and bucket lists are checked off at Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp!
