Michelle Collins stars as Abby Wallace, a mother of two who moves her family from the inner city to the small village of Ronansay in Scotland. The local council, fearing the closure of its school due to a lack of pupils, places an ad for families to move to the area. Being unmarried, Abby persuades her friend Kenny Marsh (Paul Kaye) to pose as her husband.
