Nina Weiss, una agente de la BKA alemana, llega sin aviso a Gran Canaria para sorprender a su madre, Margarethe. Die deutsche BKA-Polizistin Nina Weiss ist zu Besuch bei ihrer Mutter Magarete, die seit über 30 Jahren auf den Kanaren lebt. Als ein deutscher Geschäftsmann tot aufgefunden wird, unterstützt Nina auf Vermittlung des deutschen Konsuls Markus das ansässige Ermittlerteam der Guardia Civil, das von Sergeant Raúl Morales geleitet wird. Obwohl die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Nina und Raúl ein einmaliges Ereignis sein sollte, wird Nina am Ende auf der Insel bleiben und für das BKA die Ermittler unterstützen. Schließlich hat Nina auch einen ganz persönlichen Fall zu klären: Sie will herausfinden, wer ihr Vater ist. Leider kann sich Ninas Hippie-Mutter Magarete nicht an alle Details ihres Liebeslebens erinnern.
