Back in 2016, I made a short film called Memorial Day in Michigan. This is the first time I've shared it. I guess I wasn't ready. I am now. It’s a quiet film. No dialogue. Just visuals and music doing the heavy lifting. The story follows a soldier seemingly watching over his family: close, present, lingering. He’s with them in everyday moments... A restaurant, main street, the backyard, the living room. But as the film unfolds, something feels... off. And by the end, it becomes clear: he was never really there.
