With recent Trump threats about pulling US support for Ukraine and even leaving NATO altogether, it’s time to take a hard look at what NATO can—and can’t—do without America. We’ll start by exploring NATO Europe’s impressive military assets. Think Eurofighter Typhoons, Rafales, SAAB Gripens, and thousands of modern tanks. Countries like Poland, France, Germany, and the UK pack a serious punch with cutting-edge defense technologies and advanced weaponry. On paper, they look unstoppable—until you realize how much of NATO’s operational backbone depends on the US. I’ll look at how America brings unique capabilities to the table, from ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) and missile defense systems like THAAD and SM-3 to the logistical muscle that keeps NATO’s operations running smoothly. Without US contributions, the alliance’s ability to move troops, gather intelligence, and deploy high-tech solutions would take a massive hit.
