Cemaatin önde gelen isimlerinden Nazım Bey, eşini kaybettikten sonra çocuklarının büyümesini beklemektedir. Herkes onun toplum hayatından biriyle evlenmesini beklerken, bir memurun kızı olan Calibe'nin gençliğine ve güzelliğine aşık olur. Calibe, güzelliğiyle birlikte hırsları, hayalleri ve yeni yaşam hedeflerine ulaşmayı hedefliyor. Ve birlikte büyüdüğü teyzesinin oğlu Nejat'a olan sevgisi. Nejat, Calibe'nin şehrin en güçlü adamlarından Nazım ile evleneceğini öğrenir. Nejat bununla mücadele etmeye çalışır. Calibe ise ilk aşkından vazgeçmeyecektir.
