Caitlin learns that she has epilepsy and doesn't want her friends to know. While attending Susie's slumber party, Caitlin has a seizure and her friends find out. Caitlin loses the lead part of the school play to Kathleen and decides to drop out of the show. She later realizes that dropping out won't change her condition and re-joins the show.
Meanwhile, a painfully shy Michelle is terrified to give a speech in front of the class. Joey teases her by calling her a mouse (quiet like a mouse) and making squeaking noises. When Michelle tries to get out of the speech by telling Mr. Raditch she has a sore throat, he doesn't fall for it and tells her to talk about something she knows. She gives her speech on her shyness, and everyone loves it. Afterward Joey tries to get Michelle to write his speech.
Caitlin erfährt, dass sie an Epilepsie leidet. Sie möchte nicht, dass ihre Freunde es wissen. Bei Susies Pyjamaparty erleidet Caitlin einen Anfall und ihre Freunde finden es heraus. Caitlin verliert die Hauptrolle des Schulstücks an Kathleen und beschließt, das Stück komplett zu verlassen. Sie merkt später, dass das ihren Zustand nicht ändert und schließt sich dem Stück wieder an. In der Zwischenzeit leidet Michelle schmerzlich an ihrer Schüchternheit, als sie vor der Klasse eine Rede halten soll. Joey neckt sie und nennt sie ein "Mäuschen" (leise wie eine Maus). Als Michelle versucht sich vor der Rede zu drücken, indem sie Mr. Raditch sagt, dass sie Halsschmerzen hat, fällt er nicht darauf herein und fordert sie auf, über etwas zu sprechen, das sie weiß. Sie hält ihre Rede über ihre Schüchternheit und alle finden sie toll. Danach versucht Joey Michelle dazu zu bringen, ihm seine Rede zu schreiben.
