Det sydamerikanske land Guyana er næsten fem gange så stort som Danmark og har en af verdens mest mangfoldige og uberørte regnskove. Regnskoven ligger så afsides og skjult, at den hidtil har undgået kædesaven og skovhugst. Men det vil ikke vare længe. Regeringen forsøger dog at skabe en bæredygtig skovhugst, og en ekspeditionsgruppe af videnskabsfolk, bjergbestigere og naturfilmmagere skal hjælpe med at redde dette stykke enestående natur.<br>Mens trætopseksperten, Justine Evans, sammen med klatreholdet bygger en platform højt oppe i trætoppene, går kameramanden Gordon Buchanan på jagt efter den sjældne kæmpeodder og får en jaguar med i købet. Insekteksperten George McGavin kravler ind i et kæmpetræ, og biologen Steve Backshall udforsker et vandfald.
Guyana is off the northern coast of South America and is a country that has a rich history and an even richer tropical rainforest.
The country, as well as, the forest is under constant threat from loggers and other industry that threatens to take over. The team that joins the series will live in the forests and the jungles and track the animals “from high up in the canopy to deep into the rivers”.
The expedition team searches for rare species and animals such as the anaconda, jaguar, giant anteaters, the Harpy Eagle and giant turtles. The goal of the show and the expedition is to make the strongest case possible for conservation of the land as well as these animals. Its a lost world out there and they are trying to save it!

"Expedición Guyana" recorre, a través de impresionantes imágenes, uno de los territorios más insólitos y desconocidos que existen en todo el mundo: la selva tropical de Guayana. Un equipo internacional de biólogos y exploradores profesionales han establecido un campamento en estos territorios selváticos con la intención de asistir al encuentro de las nuevas especies de animales y plantas que puedan ofrecer estos parajes. Las cámaras acompañan al equipo en cada paso del camino, alcanzando las cumbres de sus escarpadas montañas y navegando por las furiosas aguas de sus ríos hasta alcanzar las profundidades de la selva. Unos territorios tan inhóspitos que han logrado eludir los deseos de codicia de industriales ávidos de las oportunidades de explotación que cualquier selva ofrece.
