Barbara Shelley (born Barbara Teresa Kowin) was best known for her work in horror films made by British production outfit Hammer. She is also known for recurring roles in 1984 Doctor Who as Sorasta, The Borgias as Vannozza Canale and in Oil Strike North as Elaine Smythe
