Special musical performances by Grammy Award-winning musical artists Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blige, The Goo Goo Dolls and Kelly Rowland and Jesse McCartney will perform.

Throughout the show their are also performances from Five for Fighting, John Legend, Katharine McPhee and Mary Mary.

    Following the success of the past eight annual shows, this year's special continues to tell touching stories about foster care adoption to raise awareness of this important social issue. Sheryl Crow hosts musical performances, (including James Blunt, Fergie, Karmina, Carole King, John Legend and Reba McEntire) which frame several pre-taped story segments which are presented by celebrities who either have their own adoption experiences or are involved with children's issues, including David Krumholtz, George Lopez and Rene Russo. These stories highlight many exceptional American children and families involved in this rewarding process.

The 16th Annual “A Home for the Holidays” special features uplifting stories about children from foster care and the inspiring families that adopted them, each of which is enhanced with performances by some of today’s most popular artists. Four families will be spotlighted, including the Valenza-Gee, Hunt, Nolin, and Williams families.

    Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert headlines the 18th annual A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, to be broadcast Friday, Dec. 23(8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Miranda Lambert performs “Pushin’ Time” and “Keeper of the Flame” from her recently released and critically acclaimed sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings, which spent two weeks at Number One on the Billboard Country Album Charts and is currently Number Three. The double album debuted at Number Three on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, which spans all genres. Lambert also performs the heart-warming, “The House That Built Me,” which is the song that earned Miranda her first Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance (her second Grammy win was for Best Country Album for Platinum in 2014). A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS features uplifting stories of adoption from foster care and raises awareness of this important social issue. At the emotional conclusion of the program, Miranda greets some of the families featured in these stories while “Jingle Bells” plays in the background. The special is presented in association with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Children’s Action Network. Wendy’s founder, Dave Thomas, who was adopted, established the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption in 1992. It is dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of children in North America’s foster care system. The Children’s Action Network was founded in 1990 by leaders in the entertainment industry in order to harness the power of the entertainment media on behalf of children. The special is a part of CAN’s National Adoption Campaign to raise awareness of the joys of adopting and to find homes for the children who are waiting.     For the last 19 years CBS has hosted the musical special called A Home For The Holidays. The purpose of this special is to raise awareness of the very worthy cause of adoption and foster care in the U.S. and to honor the families whose lives have been changed through adoption. In the United States there are currently over 420,000 children in foster care. The “Children Waiting” segment of the special focuses on the stories of a few children. The aim is to give a face and a voice to these forgotten children by creating a personal profile of their hopes for a “Forever Family.” In addition to musical performances, this special will share the personal stories of some of the families whose lives have been affected by adoption. If you tune in you’ll hear the stories of the Dennis Family from Norfolk, Virginia, the Fisher Family from Salt Lake City, Utah, the Thompson Family from Poteau, Oklahoma, and the Black Family from Rochester, New York.
