Uma história de bandidos, em que as personagens são mais cómicas que trágicas, com a acção a decorrer no Alentejo, nos finais do séc. XIX. Após as guerras liberais, o Alentejo era uma região pouco povoada e quase selvagem, afinal o cenário ideal para esta história de violência e brutalidade, protagonizada por homens que vivem à margem da lei.
