In 1945, the operation reaches its conclusion: key documents are secured, some of the scientists are captured, and plans to deploy biological weapons are successfully thwarted. However, the victory comes at a steep cost, as not everyone from Mamayev’s group makes it back alive. Anastasia realizes that even the evidence they have gathered does not guarantee that these crimes will be properly condemned or remembered.
The modern-day storyline ends on a somber note: the data has been delivered, but the struggle to preserve historical memory continues.
