Spotting bullet trace is the PRIMARY means used by a long range precision shooter to spot where the bullet is going. Although observing splash or the displacement of debris can also be an indicator of bullet impact, it can be exceedingly difficult at times to sight the precise origin of the splash as it is quickly dispersed. Other phenomenon such as secondary splash can become very deceptive and keep inexperienced shooters chasing their tails for hours on end.
