Finland is clearing the way to allow NATO nuclear weapons on its soil for the first time. Finland wants to change the 1987 statute that made it illegal to import, transport, or possess nuclear weapons on Finnish soil. That law was written when Finland was neutral and needed Moscow's goodwill to survive. Finland is now inside NATO with an 830-mile border with Russia. The statute became a liability.
