First entry in the Historical Society's efforts to unearth the history of this town's existence and draw in visitors and tourists from across the nation. Unmarked VHS acquired from the town hall archives after an intern was sent to do some dusting and general upkeep of the collection. "Come revel in the natural wonders and year-round quaint small town hospitality of our wonderful community. Join us!"
A compilation of donated tapes collected and assembled for a February 14th upload. Most are marked Feb. 14th or pertain to Valentine's Day proceedings. The exception is our final entry, a tape that was delivered to us with no information except for a label: "Heart Day." We were urged to take this video down by local officials due to its unsavory content. The Historic Society has on this day (February 20th) decided to release these findings to the public in hopes of finding more information on their context. If you observe anything of note within these recordings or know of their origins, please contact us at gloamingcounty@gmail.com.
An online personal blog belonging to Ms. Fennel was recently discovered by one of our faithful tech-savvy interns. Shortly after, a digital camera was found on the ground floor of the historic Coroner property. While the camera mainly contains unremarkable footage, the most recent recording reveals a rather troubling encounter. Members our research team who have visited the Fennel home unanimously identified the location of this recording as her kitchen. Law enforcement declined this evidence. They believe the footage to be digitally tampered with and, as one officer put it, "an insult to the poor woman's memory." To this, our team says, what does he know of memory or respect? If we cannot bear witness to the events unfolding before our eyes, how can we know that she is truly gone? We do know that she did not perish on that night—or, more precisely, no signs of struggle were detected in her abode.
This level and manner of degradation is uncharacteristic of more recent tapes, leading to the possibility that some subsequent tampering or unusually extreme Weathering has been inflicted upon the film. Our organization has Encountered further pushback from municipal officials, including A Very distasteful threat, due to a brush with classified material in a previous upload. We have since come to a tentative understanding. We will refrain from theorizing or making claims about active police cases in official uploads. In return, our current archive will remain available for public viewing and Educational purposes. This is not to say that we will not engage with the mysteries of past and present. We must simply tread lightly as we proceed with our Research. Friends, stay tuned and look closely. You never know what you will find. Thank you all, and goodnight.
Please enjoy this short supplementary upload as we work on digitizing our vast and regrettably disorganized collection of community media tapes. Our team is hard at work! Additionally, an unnerving package appeared on one team member's doorstep this evening. We are still deliberating the best course of action on that particular front. Sunny salutations from Gloaming!
We will be opening the package mailed to our headquarters a few days with no return address. Simply labeled "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL AFTER AUTOPSY." The autopsy in question, most likely that of the body discovered in Weaver's Wood, has been performed by Gloaming PD. It has tragically been identified as resident Shelly Fennel, previously deemed a missing persons case. Cause of death according to investigators was most likely a wild animal attack. Thus, heeding our anonymous benefactor's instructions, we will now be performing an unboxing of their contribution.
Someone recently reached out to our organization, encouraging us to avoid censoring our work. Of course, we remain in pursuit of the truth. Unfortunately, it is more complex than that. The work is important, yes. The work can also be quite costly. It is important that our employees' livelihoods remain secure. You must understand. Still, unveiling history is like pulling on loose threads only to find they are all part of the same great big tapestry. It is unraveling that tapestry to reveal another sort of art concealed within the warp and weft. It is weaving a story in reverse. We cannot begin to put it back together again until we reach the end (or the beginning?) Consider this a step in the direction of transparency. Pulling the thread. Lifting the veil. Let us continue, friends. Thank you, as always, for your unwavering support. Gloaming Historical Preservation Society
As promised, our archivists are now diving into the Camp Gloaming collection. When the summer camp shut down for a brief period, many of its older resources were either abandoned or donated to the archive. The collection appears to be a mixture of camp orientation materials and educational tapes. This quirky animated special weaves an apparently grim tale of stranger danger! The studio responsible for this piece, unfortunately, remains unknown. Friends of Gloaming, as always, stay safe and stay curious. Our work continues.
